InBody Body Composition Analysis (Full Service Description)
An InBody Assessment is a non-invasive body composition analysis that provides a detailed breakdown of what your body is made of beyond just body weight. Using advanced Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) technology, the InBody device measures body water, muscle mass, body fat, and other key health indicators in less than a minute. Unlike a standard scale, it helps identify changes in body composition, making it a valuable tool for nutrition counselling, weight management, fitness tracking, and overall health monitoring. What the Assessment Measures 1. Body Weight Total body weight in kilograms. 2. Skeletal Muscle Mass (SMM) * Measures the amount of muscle attached to your bones. * Helps assess muscle development, fitness progress, and nutritional status. 3. Body Fat Mass * The total amount of fat tissue in the body. * Useful for monitoring fat loss or gain over time. 4. Percentage Body Fat (PBF) * The percentage of your total body weight that consists of fat. * Provides a more meaningful picture of health than weight alone. 5. Body Mass Index (BMI) * A screening measure that compares weight to height. * Included for reference but interpreted alongside body composition results. 6. Visceral Fat * Estimates the fat surrounding internal organs in the abdominal cavity. * High visceral fat levels are associated with increased risk of metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. 7. Total Body Water (TBW) * Measures the body's water content, including: * Intracellular Water (inside cells) * Extracellular Water (outside cells) * Assists in evaluating hydration and fluid balance. 8. Segmental Muscle Analysis Assesses muscle distribution in: * Right arm * Left arm * Trunk * Right leg * Left leg * Identifies muscle imbalances and areas requiring strengthening. 9. Segmental Fat Analysis * Shows how body fat is distributed throughout different body regions. * Helps identify patterns of fat accumulation. 10. Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) * Estimates the number of calories your body requires at rest to maintain essential bodily functions. 11. InBody Score * A composite score reflecting overall body composition status. * Can be used to monitor progress over time. Benefits of an InBody Assessment: * Provides a comprehensive understanding of body composition. * Tracks progress during weight loss, muscle gain, or health interventions. * Helps distinguish between fat loss and muscle loss. * Supports personalised nutrition and exercise recommendations. * Monitors hydration status and body water balance. * Identifies muscle asymmetries and body fat distribution patterns. * Offers objective data to guide goal setting and lifestyle modifications. Who Can Benefit? * Individuals pursuing weight management goals. * Athletes and active individuals monitoring performance. * Patients with chronic conditions requiring nutrition support. * Individuals aiming to improve overall health and wellness. * Clients seeking a more accurate assessment than weight or BMI alone. What to Expect During the Test: The assessment is quick, painless, and takes approximately 45–60 seconds. Clients stand barefoot on the device and hold the hand electrodes while a low-level electrical current passes through the body to estimate body composition. Results are available immediately and can be reviewed & interpreted with your dietitian during the consultation.
