About

Welcome to Caterpillar Speech and Language Therapy. I'm Caylene Cupido, a Speech and Language Therapist dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care for children and their families. I believe that connection comes before communication. By building trusting relationships with children and partnering closely with their families, I create a safe, engaging environment where meaningful learning and lasting progress can flourish. I offer comprehensive assessment and therapy for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children with speech, language, communication, literacy, and paediatric feeding difficulties. Every therapy plan is individualised to meet each child's unique strengths and needs, with a collaborative approach that supports confident communication at home, at school, and beyond.

Services (12)

Initial consultation
An initial consultation to get to know your child and family, discuss your concerns, gather a relevant case history, and build rapport. This session provides an opportunity to understand your child's strengths and needs, answer any questions you may have, and discuss the most appropriate next steps, including whether a formal assessment or therapy is recommended. Can be done in person or online.
Speech & Language Screener
A brief screening designed to identify whether your child's speech, language, and communication skills are developing as expected. This is not a comprehensive assessment but helps determine whether further assessment or speech and language therapy may be recommended. Findings and recommendations will be discussed following the screening.
Feeding Assessment
A comprehensive assessment of your child's feeding skills, eating habits, oral motor skills, and mealtime participation. This assessment is typically completed in a single session and may include clinical observation and formal and informal assessment measures, depending on your child's individual needs. Following completion of the assessment, findings, recommendations, and appropriate next steps will be discussed with parents or caregivers.
Feeding Therapy
Individualised feeding therapy sessions designed to support the development of safe, positive, and enjoyable mealtimes. Therapy is tailored to your child's specific needs and may focus on oral motor skills, food exploration, expanding food variety, self-feeding skills, mealtime routines, and caregiver education. Parents or caregivers will receive feedback and practical strategies to support progress at home.
Speech & Language Assessment
A comprehensive assessment of your child's speech, language, and communication skills. The assessment may include clinical observation and formal and informal assessment measures, depending on your child's individual needs. Progress will be discussed throughout the assessment process, and parents or caregivers will be advised if additional time or appointments are required. Following completion of the assessment, findings, recommendations, and appropriate next steps will be discussed.
Speech & Language Therapy
Individualised therapy sessions tailored to your child's unique communication needs and goals. Therapy is evidence-informed, engaging, and family-centred, with activities designed to support the development of speech, language, communication, and social communication skills. Parents and caregivers will receive feedback and practical strategies to support continued progress beyond the therapy session.
Online Speech & Language Therapy (Teletherapy)
Individualised speech and language therapy delivered via a secure online platform. Teletherapy sessions are tailored to your child's communication goals and are suitable for children and families where online intervention is appropriate. Parents or caregivers may be required to participate in sessions, particularly for younger children.
Group Therapy
Small group therapy sessions (maximum of 3 children) designed to support the development of speech, language, communication, and social communication skills in a fun, engaging, and supportive environment. Children are thoughtfully grouped according to their age, developmental level, and therapy goals to encourage peer interaction, confidence, and meaningful learning. Parents or caregivers will receive feedback and recommendations where appropriate.
School Visit / Classroom Observation
Off site
A visit to your child's educational setting to observe their communication skills, participation, classroom engagement, and interactions within the learning environment. The observation provides valuable information to guide intervention and support strategies, with recommendations shared with parents, caregivers, and educators where appropriate.
Classroom Language Stimulation Session
Off site
An interactive, classroom-based session designed to support the development of speech, language, and early literacy skills through play-based and engaging activities. Sessions are tailored to the age and developmental level of the group and aim to promote language learning within the classroom environment while equipping educators with practical strategies to support communication throughout the school day.
Parent Consultation
This service is available to parents or caregivers of existing clients who would like dedicated time to review assessment findings or therapy progress, discuss concerns, receive guidance and education, and collaborate on the next steps in their child's care. The child does not need to be present for this appointment.
Assessment Report
A comprehensive written report summarising the assessment findings, clinical observations, interpretation of results, and recommendations. Reports are prepared on request and may be shared with parents, caregivers, educators, medical professionals, or other relevant service providers with appropriate consent.
